Did any of the browser settings change with the latest release?  I was looking at the User Assistance tab today and the new instructions look a little different from what I thought they were. Do users still need to make ALL of the changes to the "Custom Level" with Tools > Internet Options > Security Tab?

Here's what the User Assistance instrucitons say:

Q: When I select Open/Download File from the Actions menu, nothing happens.

A: To ensure Open/Download File operates effectively, please do the following:
  • Add http://www.inciteknowledge.com to the list of trusted sites (Tools>Internet Options>Security>Trusted Sites>Sites)
  • Once the site is added, click “Custom Level” under Trusted Sites.
  • Locate the “Automatic prompting for file downloads” setting, and enable it.
  • Click “OK”.
  • Refresh your browser.

Here's what my instructions say:

  • Add the URL to your trusted sites.
  • In the browser, go to Tools > Internet Options > Security tab. Then click on the Trusted Sites icon. Select the Sites button, and add the following URLs into the Add…field.  https://*.inciteknowledge.com
  • Click the Add button, and then OK.
  • Select “Custom Level” under Trusted Sites.
  • Locate the “Initialize ActiveX controls not marked as safe” and Enable it.
  • Locate the “Script ActiveX controls not marked as safe” settings and Enable it.
  • Locate the “Automatic prompting for file downloads” setting and Enable it.
  • For Microsoft Internet Explorer 7: Under “Scripting” locate the “Allow Programmatic clipboard access” setting and Enable it.
  • Click “OK”
  • Refresh your browser

    Thanks for your help,

    Kelly

Hi Kelly,

We are in the process of updating our User Assistance and FAQ sections.  Below is the correct info for Express users.

inciteKnowledge Express:

Add these to your Trusted Sites (Tools > Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites > Sites)
o       Make sure the "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone" box is not checked.
o       Once the sites are added, click “Custom Level” under Trusted Sites.
o       Locate the “Automatic prompting for file downloads” setting, and enable it.
o       Locate the “Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe” setting, and enable it.
o       For Microsoft Internet Explorer 7:  Under the “Scripting” heading, locate the “Allow Programmatic clipboard access” setting and Enable it.
o       Click “OK”.
o       Refresh your browser.

Additionally, these are the technical requirements for Express users:

*      Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista
*      Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
*      Internet connection
*      To open and view the resulting outputs, the following are required:
o        Microsoft Word or PowerPoint XP SP3, 2003 SP2, or 2007
o        PDF Reader to open and view PDF outputs
o        Unzipping utility to extract zipped files

If your users have pop-up blockers installed on their machines, you should ensure these are either turned off or that incite is added as a “Trusted Site” in their browser’s Security settings so they are able to access it.

If your users will use a VPN connection to connect to your corporate network while they are using inciteKnowledge, you will need to verify that they have they have access to external websites.

Thanks for posting!
