As Bob Schmonsees notes in his eBook The PowerPoint Conundrum,   the total amount of PowerPoint is often growing faster than the amount of approved PowerPoint because:

1. Companies lack effective content management practices that ensure out-of-date PowerPoint slides are removed from circulation.
2. Sales people can easily modify corporate-generated PowerPoint slides and easily create their own presentations from scratch.

This creates incredible costs to the organization because:

  • Sales people waste valuable selling time on presentations and not interfacing with customers.  They sink time into creating presentations from from scratch and wading through old and outdated versions looking for information.
  • Opportunities can be jeopardized if not lost, as a result of delays in responding with the appropriate information or outdated or incorrect information is acted upon by prospects

There are ways to solve the PowerPoint conundrum, and Bob offered some recommendations and a software approach was covered in the Solving the PowerPoint Conundrum webinar on Oct. 23.  But we want to hear from you:

What's the state of presentation materials in your organization?
How are you taking control of the situation? If not why?
What's most important to you with respect to sales effectiveness and presentations?
