In inciteKnowledge we have downplayed the importance of keywords for a number of reasons:
So we have removed the need to keyword content altogether, replacing it with a much stronger search capability. The default search will use the content field (like the former Examiner search), and leverage the built-in stemming capabilities of the SQL Server database. Stemming looks for variations on a word to find matches (e.g., search for “run” and find “runs”, “running”, “ran”). Furthermore, the Synonym feature has been applied to all searches against fields that are full-text indexed, so all searches have the benefit of the special relationships between terms that may exist for a specific customer. The following fields are full-text indexed providing rapid searches and results: Descriptions (short and long) and Content.
Existing keywords can be rolled into a custom field during the migration process if desired. This custom field can be searched for using the Advanced Search function. However we discourage this and instead encourage customers to take advantage of the stronger, less labor-intensive native search capabilities.
