Is there a capability to load a static file associated with an activity? For example, one of our activities is to create a Blue Sheet. On our current site, we provide a link that allows the user quickly download the Blue Sheet Excel file.

Kelli,

Will a URL activity meet the needs?  You'd need a fully formed URL to the file on your server, but that should allow them to just launch the file.

If that's not going to do it, let us know and we can explore alternatives.

From Kelli:

That won't work as we don't have a server that all of our users have access to. Also, it would be nice to be able to link to a specific record in the knowledge base for an activity.

One other thing, if I try to go and edit an activity, it won't let me change the activity type

OK, so you can definitely link to a specific record in the KB in an activity using a URL activity -- every item in the KB has a URL and you can generate it quickly in Express using the Copy URL to Clipboard button in the details view.

In terms of attaching a file, if you create an activity to create a deliverable, you can choose to attach a template using "Other" in the "Using" on the second page of the wizard, and browsing to the file.

And yes, the type can't be changed once you've saved the activity -- you would need to go create a new one. You can only modify the particulars within the path you chose in the wizard, as opposed to a new path.

It would be great if you could browse to a record rather than having to go out of Sales Assistant into Express to copy the URL as then when you go back to Sales Assistant, it drops you back to the starting page rather than where you were at.

Hi Kelli,

Know what I do? I just run two windows -- one in Sales Assistant and the other in Express, swapping back and forth between browsers. Or tabs should work in IE7, as well. That way I can jump around Express looking for the records I need, and do my thing in SA without being interrupted. Works pretty well.
